The Early Childhood Educator balances teacher directed with free choice times.

  • The teacher leads and/or supervises messy science but also provides materials that can be enjoyed by a child independently.
  • Young artists need teacher assistance to manage materials for paint and collaging projects but writing/drawing implements are always available.
  • Sorting and classifying are natural interests, but a teacher can demonstrate ways to record, pattern, and count the sets the child creates.
  • Small groups of like attentions spans gather with a teacher to collect distinctions of letter sounds, symbols, and usage, but organize themselves for outdoor and large motor opportunities.
  • Listening to the teacher read or having a book to yourself on a cozy couch? Both are offered frequently though out the day.
  • Family participates with a take home packet each week, achievements are shared both directions so everyone celebrates accomplishments!
